“Dine on the Line”—100 lucky customers got to have a meal on an assembly line. Was that Ford? Ram? Jeep? Toyota? Nissan? No. Rolls-Royce. Come on, other automakers—that idea was genius.
In a road rage survey conducted by ingenie, UK drivers revealed that 47 percent found BMW drivers to be most responsible for bringing on road rage (their tailgating habit topped the list). Curiously, BMW drivers beat out the olds. And by that we don’t mean Oldsmobiles.

Grand Cherokee Trailhawk
New ’13 Jeeps
For the new model year, we get a new Wrangler. The limited-edition Moab was inspired by…you get precisely one guess here. Based on the Sahara, it’s more off-road-ready than other the other off-road-ready Jeeps. Like, it’ll have a Tru-Lok electronic rear, and if you get the manual trans and 3.73 axles, Moab has a crawl ratio of 45:1. Things that will make it physically stand out include special rock rails, a Mopar power dome hood, off-road bumpers, special decals, 17-inch Rubicon rims, and new 245/75R17 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor rubber.
Wrangler Freedom Edition
If you need your new-Jeep fill sooner, there’s the ’12 Wrangler Freedom Edition. Based on the Sport model, you can get it in two- or four-door flavor. Three toppings only, though: Deep Cherry Red, Bright White, and True Blue (a new Jeep color just for the Freedom). There are Oscar Mike fender badges and decals, special wheels and accents, and more. The MSRP starts at $28,165.
Wrangler Freedom Edition
On the Grand Cherokee side of things, the new model year will bring the Trailhawk. Featuring the same name as the ’07 concept and the ’12 concept, the concept here is that you will actually be able to buy it. Jeep is calling it the “most capable Grand Cherokee ever,” which we’re pretty sure Jeep has said about every Grand Cherokee ever made. And as you’d expect with that label, there’s a Trail Rated badge in store. Beyond having V-6 and V-8 engines, there will be an electronic limited-slip diff and Quadra-Drive (for the V-8), as well as Quadra-Lift air suspension, Selec-Terrain traction control, Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires, and sturdy rocker guards. Jeep also says the hood decal with the red accent stripe is for reducing glare—guess this means we can finally stop wheeling with black grease under our eyes like football players.
Is It True?
Will the Chevy Colorado have a four-cylinder diesel in addition to a gas V-6?
Half of all new cars will be electric in 20 years or less? Uh, anyone buy that?
Are the new Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon getting a 5.5L V-8 and 6.2L V-8?
Mahindra pickup, that downsize, cheap-ass diesel we’ve all been curious about and, dare we say, looking forward to, is officially dead for the U.S.?
Is the Range Rover Sport getting a diesel and a modified XJ chassis?
Will the ’13 Suzuki Grand Vitara get a new face?
Gee, That Press Release Sounds Naughty:
“Dry Your World With H2Out Space Dryers”
Your Government At Work
Massachusetts may become the first state to make it mandatory for automakers to sell independent mechanics and car owners the same diagnostic and repair info dealerships get. It’s the Right to Repair Act. There’s a panic among dealerships, which are worrying that automakers won’t sell cars in a state that has this law. Automakers aren’t necessarily keen on their electronics being public knowledge.
We quote the California Off-Road Vehicle Association (CORVA): “The Sustainable Parks Proposal, as authored by Senators Simitian and Evans, was largely taken apart by line-item vetoes by Governor Brown. Of the $21 million proposed to be transferred from our fund to State Parks for three years, only $7 million was taken, for only 1 year. All the letters, phone calls, and petitions asking the Governor for help really worked, as well as personal contact by our OHV Commissioners and lobbying by groups, including Friends of Jawbone, AMA District 36, and CORVA.”
