Superchips has expanded its Jeep performance tuning lineup with the release of the Trail Jammer EXT system, which includes the Flashpaq performance tuner, throttle body, and cold air intake kit. The Trail Jammer EXT system fits ’98-’06 Wrangler TJs and ’98-’01 Cherokee XJs (as well as Comanche MJs) that have the fuel-injected 4.0L I-6 engine. This comprehensive air/fuel kit is said to improve power by up to 18 percent. Superchips’ dynamometer testing on a ’06 Wrangler with a five-speed manual transmission showed baseline rear-wheel output of 140hp and 165 lb-ft of torque. With the Trail Jammer EXT system installed, the same Jeep produced 160hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Power, fuel economy, and towing tunes are included with the Flashpaq as well as automatic transmission shift optimization and users can calibrate for tire sizes from 22.5-42 inches. Superchips’ 62mm bore high-flow throttle body accommodates increased airflow and improves overall drivability. The Trail Jammer EXT’s cold-air intake flows 97-percent better than stock, while the system’s oil-impregnated, cotton-mesh filter traps dirt and debris and is washable and reusable. The Trail Jammer EXT system is designed for do-it-yourself installation in an hour or less.
