Dodge Ram 3500
Refine By Make and Model:
Since its inception, the Dodge Ram series has been known for several admirable attributes. Among the most impressive is the sheer ability of these trucks. These full-sized trucks weren't intended to sit on the side lines and look pretty. They were designed to be long lasting and dependable and overall the line certainly is. Equipped with an impressive suspension system, giving them the ability to keep things nice and steady whether on the road or rough terrain, the Ram makes driving a truck a pleasurable experience regardless of what it's doing at the time.
Another feature the Dodge Ram series is known for is its unique styling. While the goal certainly wasn't to make the Ram look unattractive, it was to give the line an incredibly masculine look and feel. The company met its goal admirably when the truck series was featured with a shouldered hood and other features reminiscent of big rigs.Origins
The Dodge Ram 250 was first offered on the market in 1981 and remained on the new truck list until 1993. The 350 joined its brother along with the 2500 and 3500. The 2500 and the 3500 are the larger, more powerful options of the 250 and 350 and weigh in at the ¾ of a ton.About
Few things can compare with the American love of big trucks. Most men start out as little boys with a passion for the full-sized pickup trucks appeal thanks to its rugged nature, diverse versatility, and overall powerful nature. While many automakers are known for their lines of trucks, such as Ford's F-Series, there is something about a Dodge Ram that really gets the public's engines revving. Over the years, Dodge has offered the public a variety of Ram options including the 250, 350, 2500, and 3500 versions.
For the 2010 model year, Dodge brought back the crew cab cabin configuration among the configuration choices. Other changes include revised cabin design intended to give passengers more comfort and a greater sense of luxury in the cabin. The suspension for this model year also saw some changes. For the exterior of the Dodge Ram 250, 350, 2500, and 3500, updated styling made the already rugged design more appealing as well.Features
In order to keep up with the growing list of demands for more features in the full-sized truck category, Dodge added more standard features too. In the upper trim levels, features such as leather upholstery, a hard drive based navigation system, and Bluetooth connectivity made the list of options. Dual zone automatic climate control was offered as well as some styling choices. It's almost as if the truck was going out with a bang before its newer, more modern sibling took over the Ram name.Evolution
As noted, the Dodge Ram first appeared on the scene in the 1981 model year. This first generation took the Dodge name into the truck more than any other model the company had offered since first introducing its trucks in 1917. Before that point, Dodge trucks sold, but not with the authority the company enjoyed in the Ram series.
The second generation for this model started in the 1994 model year. The Ram then featured a 5.2-liter, V-8 engine in the base models. In the 2500 edition especially, Dodge also offered the choice of an 8.0-liter V-10 or a 5.9-liter, turbodiesel motor as well.
The third generation of the Dodge Ram naturally saw improvements the company felt would appeal to the new truck buyers of the time. These models were equipped with an improved suspension system as well as a revised steering system. Better handling was the focus for these trucks too. Dodge created the third generation with greater towing and hauling ability in an effort to make the Ram even more efficient for those using the truck for a variety of work and recreational activities.
