The Mud Race
Indiana has plenty of sticky, stinky black mud. It's the kind of mud that will suck your shoes off of your feet as soon as you walk into it, and convert mud tires into big balls of goo. Making progress through it can be a challenge, so we decided to have a race through it. Staged in what used to be a bottomland cornfield, our course resembled a giant Slip 'n Slide for our rigs. Luckily, it was plenty of fun, and the fastest time through was the winner.

Kevin and his big Scout slogged around the course and finished just a second behind first-place finisher Sam and his air-bagged Chevy. |
Coming in just behind the Suzuki was Vernon and his '83 Chevy. Its 44-inch Boggers had an easy time churning through the mud, but a mostly stock 350 V-8 under the hood made for a slower time. |

Scott and his '70 Blazer put the hammer down and were able to slide their way through the course for a fourth-place finish. |
We thought the mud might stop the little Suzuki in its tracks, but Dustin has a 4.3L V-6 under the hood of the 'Zuk. The combination of light weight and lots of power let him cruise to a fifth-place finish. |
