Hero: Race Teams
In the world of desert racing, the driver typically gets all the attention. While the driver's role is crucially important to the effort, it's worth mentioning those who work out all the little details behind the scenes. Hero: Hotel Security
Much of the negative experiences felt by teams who were less fortunate in years past will forever appreciate Ensenada hotels that employ 24-hour security. Hero: The Mechanics
Here, Pete's number-one mechanic and co-driver Eric "Prospect" Waite disassembles the rear differential of Pete's prerunner in the hotel parking lot. Much of Eric's hero status comes from the fact that he dedicates every waking moment of his life to Pete's race program. Every part of the truck is his responsibility. If a ring-and-pinion starts making noise, as it did on day two of the prerun, Eric is the guy under the truck addressing the problem. Our hats are off to the many tireless individuals like him.
