Dezert Toys at Big Boy's

Several months ago, we attended a truck show/film screening that was organized by (a desert cleanup organization) and Dezert People films. Dozens of cool trucks lined the parking lot, people were talking, having fun, and a fair amount of money was raised to help further fund cleanup efforts in Southern California. It was a great evening, so we jumped at the chance to be involved when another show with similar aims was being organized. After months of planning, dozens of trucks converged in the parking lot of the Bob's Big Boy in Norco, California, for a fundraising event designed to benefit both and Fast-Aid (an organization that assists injured racers and their families). Destined to become an annual event, the very first 'Dezert Toys at Big Boy's' show occurred on September 26th, 2010, and it was a sight to behold.

It was unusually hot, but that didn't stop truck owners from coming out to display rigs of every size, shape, and design. Quite a few prerunners were on hand, along with race trucks, trail rigs, and even a couple of sandrails. A live band and a DJ helped set the mood, and we presume the Bob's Big Boy was serving up burgers by the dozen.

As the afternoon came to an end, we served as judges and helped pick out some of the best vehicles on display. 'Best In Show' went to an impressively-built prerunner that will soon get the photo feature treatment in an upcoming issue of OFF-ROAD - keep an eye out for it. As everyone packed up, donations were counted and sizeable donations were made to both and Fast-Aid.

We'd like to give special thanks to Charyle Trujillo, Krista Ridgeway, and the Bob's Big Boy staff, Adam Filbin from, Speakeasy (a great rockabilly band), DJ Spanish Pete, and the show sponsors:
