This is the mountain's calling. The Frederick Mine, resting at 10,900 feet, yielded silver, gold, and, more recently, the prospect of molybdenum. In the late 1950s, this claim drew the attention of a major moly producer. Core drilling revealed that the moly could not be mined profitably. For now, this claim remains in the hands of a Yerington, Nevada, family that works the mine a bit each year. Please respect the privacy of mine claims. Be aware: Aging shafts and mine tunnels can be dangerous!
