A couple of dirt sections and a little pavement brought us to Darwin, which is a mix of the old, the new, and the weird. Darwin got its start with the discovery of silver-lead deposits in 1874. Old homes in the foreground look to have sat vacant for decades, while the russet-colored buildings further back seem occupied. Look closely and you’ll spot a satellite dish affixed to the wall. This whole scene was behind a locked gate and a warning sign so we didn’t get any closer.
