Steve Lewis, a jet engine mechanic, brought his Ford Bronco II, the predecessor to the Explorer. His rig sports a fascinating collection of components that include a ’94 Explorer 4.0L engine; Mazda five-speed transmission; BorgWarner 1350/1354 doubler T-case; disc brake-equipped 8.8-inch rear axle; Dana 35 front axle with Dana 44 outers; and a James Duff suspension with extended front radius arms and F-150 front coil springs. Lewis coated the rocker panels and interior body tub in bedliner material and cut the fenders so the 33-inch tires would have room to move. Other body mods include removable doors and a Ford Ranger tailgate.
