It figured: a locked gate! Behind the gate was something often talked about in mining lore but seldom seen at most formerly active mines: a stamp mill. Many stamp mills were relocated as one mine played out and another strike was discovered or were eventually sold for scrap. A telephoto lens allowed a closer look. This is the Ranchita Mine.
