The 2012 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) season closed at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Arizona, with dirt and shattered body panels flying. There was high-speed action and fierce competition for the final round of the championship season for Karts to Pro trucks on Saturday. Then there was the Challenge Cup on Sunday with over $100,000 in prize money to the top finishers in each class.?>
We saw the 2WD and 4WD Pro truck classes compete and the Pro buggies and Pro trucks go head to head. Super Lites were there as were the limited buggies to put on a show in front of filled grandstands.
For 2013, there will again be racing spread across the southwestern states of Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah. After the winter break, look for racing to pick up again in March. You can get all the details at www.lucasoiloffroad.com.
Ryan Hancock was skimming the berm between the split lanes coming around Turn 5. Once the nose of his Pro 2 truck dipped and caught hard, he shoveled his way through yards of loose dirt, waiting out the blindness for a few tense seconds.
