The Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series and Arizona Short Course Championship (ASCC) races are back again for 2013, offering a wide range of dirt classes from the kids' kart classes up through the big V-8 trucks. Support and participation continues to be healthy, and this year ADS Racing Shocks stepped up to be the presenting sponsor for the Arizona Series.
We recently attended the season-opening races at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix as part of the ASCC to enjoy some family-oriented, grassroots racing. Firebird offers an excellent dirt track that was built a few years ago for the LOORRS pro racing circuit. We watched as racers ran qualifying races Sunday morning, followed by the mains in the afternoon.
If you're looking to get your start in dirt racing and want to do short course, the regional series races are a great way to get involved in a variety of vehicle classes. Other Arizona regional races are being held at Speedworld in Surprise, Tonopah, Yuma, Tucson, and one race in Lake Elsinore, California.
