Some people ask us why we report on trade shows and events after they happen, and the simple truth is this: We can't report on them before they happen. Readers whine about how they wish they had known about such-and-such and why didn't we let them know. The fact is we don't always know, but we turn you on to good stuff as we find it. Such is the case with the Truckin' & 4x4 Nationals held last October in Phoenix at Firebird International Raceway. It was our first time at the show, and we liked it so much we already have reservations for next year. In addition to show trucks aplenty and a smorgasbord of off-road products on display on the midway, the main action was on the field.
There was also the ever-present monster truck action of spinning and crushing cars, as well as the battle for the Toughest Truck. High-flying trucks bashed and crashed through tire pits, log jams, and rockcrawls while scurrying around a desert course and a dragstrip. If that wasn't enough for the fans, the swimsuit competition and midway food kept the crowds in good cheer.
