The off-road hobby has something for just about everyone. From high-speed desert racing to the slow crawl of rocky trail exploration, there’s plenty off wheeling avenues to enjoy. Keith Wilson, owner of Wilson Off Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is a wheeler who loves all aspects of four-wheeling. To share his love for the hobby, each year he puts on the Wilson Off Road May Jam at the Uwharrie Stables.
Located just a stone’s throw from the Uwharrie National forest in Troy, North Carolina, the Uwharrie Stables is a diversified wheeling complex that houses a variety of manmade and natural obstacles. Open year-round, the Stables have become a hotbed for mud racers, rockcrawlers, and general outdoor enthusiasts.
Now in its fifth year ,the May Jam has evolved into a three-day event that caters to both drivers and spectators. Included in the wheeling festivities are a mud drag, a high-speed off-road track race, a rockcrawl, a truck tug-o-war, and a sled pull.
We got a chance to swing by for the Saturday events just as the high-speed action was getting under way. While we enjoyed watching the event, we could tell that the participants were the one’s having a blast. To find out more about the event, visit www.wilsonoffroad.com.
