All-4-Fun Colorado Hi Country Wheeling

Colorado is a beautiful state, and there is no better way to experience it than from behind the wheel of your 4x4. (OK, hiking, biking, and horseback riding aren’t bad either, but you’re not reading this magazine to learn about that.) We recently spent a day at the All-4-Fun event put on by the Mile-Hi Jeep Club outside of Salida, Colorado, and can honestly say we wished we had stayed for the whole weeklong event.

We spent the day on the Carnage Canyon trail with a group of wheelers less concerned about body damage than most, but these trails are just a portion of the offerings. Easier high-mountain roads, clear lakes, and pretty wooded trails are available on different runs, so don’t feel you need a rock buggy to attend.

All-4-Fun is a great family wheeling event with trails from beginner to extreme. The mountains and vistas just from camp are incredible and keep getting better the more you explore. The event usually runs from one Saturday to the next in late July to mid August, so plan accordingly. The town of Salida has restaurants and hotels if you don’t wish to tent or motorhome camp at the main base. Evenings are filled with cocktails, ice cream socials, karaoke, a big raffle, a show-n-shine, and dancing. There is also a vendor day when you can examine what neat widget you need for your Jeep or 4x4. The event isn’t Jeep exclusive either. We saw Blazers, Broncos, and Toyotas in the mix, so don’t feel you’re not invited.

To find out more, visit and register early for next year’s event. People have been coming for years from all across the country, and we now know why.
