Mud Racing Is Family Fun
Mid Michigan is host to six races during the summer, bringing fast-paced race action and fun to the middle of the state. We covered the first run of the year at the Birch Run Expo Center and had a great time, and we can’t begin to tell you how much we enjoy the smaller events too. There was an excellent turnout. Since it was the first race of the year, the racers were itching to test out the modifications they made to the rigs over the long cold winter. That means the pits will be filled with pedal-down action.
Chris Graves is the promoter and the event, and we have to give him a hand because the event ran very smoothly and everyone had a blast. There are seven classes defined by tire size and engine mods. Some of the racers in versatile rigs won multiple classes. First Place in Class 1 was won by Jeff Richardson; Classes 2, 5, and 6 by Henry Cermack ; Classes 3 and 4 by Brendan Witgen; and Class 7 by Nathan MacLaren.
There was a little something for everyone at the event, including a really cool mud bog for the kids, grandstands for safe viewing, concessions stands for the hungry, and a power wash so the racers could wash their trucks after the event. The event was great racing entertainment and a wholesome family show.
If you are in the area, the Mid Michigan Mud Run should be on your list of things to do. Details about upcoming races can be found on their Facebook page. We highly recommend a day at their next race.
