Yankee Lake Truck Night

Yankee Lake is straight legit, man. It’s totally worth going to every time, and I wish I could get up there more than once a year. It’s another chicks-everywhere, party-type event with some of the sickest and definitely the largest mega trucks in the north throwin’ down all weekend. They also have huge concerts and huge crowds and, of course, one of my favorite attractions, the Miss Yankee Lake Truck Night Competition every year. —Ricky B Wilson

Yankee Lake Truck Night is held at Brookfield, Ohio, which is on the eastern side of the state and close to the Pennsylvania border. It’s also fairly close to Cleveland. The Yukon Gear & Axle National Throttle King Qualifying Mega Truck Challenge Party is held every Memorial Day weekend. It pulls in a huge crowd and a ton of nasty built Mega Trucks that compete in the different challenges. Yankee Lake absolutely blows it out at the big events with a ton of action. It is common that 5,000 plus people show at their weekend events. Yankee Lake also opens every Friday night during the warmer months, which makes the place a nonstop attraction and the place to be all year long.

There is so much here to keep everyone busy it’s ridiculous. Huge mud play areas, rockcrawling, a pad for back-to-back grudge pulls and tugs, lots of vendors, climbing wall, a mechanical bull, a live DJ, a dance floor area full of ladies, and a large main stage for concerts. This year during the big 4x4cross party weekend, in addition to the Mega Truck Challenge, they held both the Miss Yankee Lake Truck Night Competition and a huge concert with the LACS.

The Yukon Gear & Axle Throttle King Qualifying Mega truck Challenge was absolutely a brute test of strength, speed, and power for the trucks competing. Friday night the trucks had to hookup back-to-back in a tug on the concrete pad and pull a loader tire for time. Saturday the trucks ran a circle track mud pit pulling a monster tire. Then the trucks raced on an obstacle course track, and then hit a Hill N Hole. All the trucks got some big air.

This is the second year in a row Tom Smith in Boar Hog won the Mega Truck Challenge. The trucks in the top 5 were Scott Green in Sail, Grant Charlick in Mud King, Wayne Wiest in Wild 1, and Scott Krznar in Mud Slut. All top 5 runners-up won Yukon Gear & Axle Throttle King crowning event invitations.

Yankee Lake is a don’t-miss event. You need to get there at least once a year, if not twice, or three times—or heck, every Friday night. You won’t regret it.
