The 305-cube Chevy V-8 under the hood of Jon Rice's '82 CJ-7 might not make huge power, but it's enough to creep along this trail with ease. The engine is connected to a TH700R4 in front of the stock Dana 300 T-case. The rear four-link provides ample flex with TJ coils and allowed him to stretch the wheelbase to 105 inches. A fuel cell was mounted behind the back seat to provide clearance for the Ford 9-inch axle. Rice had just finished painting his CJ-7 and he wasn't about to let Warpath ruin all of his hard work. He got grief from the rest of the group for taking longer, but he made it through the trail without a scratch.
