No, we didn't flip the image around; the windshield banner on Jim Smith's '99 Wrangler is really reversed as you look at the Jeep from the outside. Since it reads "Dazed and Confused," we figured that was fitting. Under the heavily louvered hood, the 4.0L benefits from a cold-air intake, Banks header and a Rev-Tec muffler. The engine is still bolted to the factory AX-15. From there "stock" doesn't have much to do with the rest of the drivetrain. A 5:1 Atlas II hands power off to a high-pinion Dana 30 front axle stuffed with 4.56 gears and an ARB Air Locker. Out back, a Dana 44 liberated from a Rubicon still runs the factory air locker and was regeared to match the front.
