Hump and Bump is an event that the Vegas Valley Four Wheelers club has been putting on at the Logandale, Nevada, OHV area for over three decades. The event is held about one hour north of Las Vegas, Nevada, and happens the weekend after the SEMA show. Since we almost always go to the SEMA show, you’d think it would be a no-brainer for us to also go to Hump and Bump. However, we frequently end up with deadlines and other obligations that keep us from making the trek to the north.
In fact, we hadn’t been to the event for about five years, and when we got there for the 2011 gathering, we were surprised by how large it has grown. Camping is now at Clark County fairgrounds and the event, as always, is well organized and staffed. Each trail run has a trail leader, as well as a mid- and tail-gunner. All the people we ran into working the event were knowledgeable about the trails in the area, trail repairs, and roll-over recovery. All in all, it is a decent-sized event that still has that small-event feel to it and is a joy to attend. So, if you find yourself in the Nevada desert just north of Las Vegas this fall, you might want to check it out at vv4w.org. Here is just some of the fun you could have had.
