Day two ended in South Lake Tahoe, California. We made it! We were to start the trail the next afternoon so this was our last chance to prep. Mike repaired a leaky power steering fitting on the ’75 CJ-5 in the parking lot of the local parts store. By some miracle, Ground-Up was still running quite well, although a slight fitment issue with the hood and radiator cap had been causing the cap to loosen with some coolant loss. A little butch work with some pliers, a screwdriver, and a hammer provided clearance.
