Just after starting the trail John Palmer’s odd-fire Buick V-6 died and would not start. After a jump start, a voltmeter said the alternator was not charging. Boo. John, thinking the alternator was dead, decided to head back off the trail when Don Butler noticed that the alternator’s exciter wire had fallen off. Oops! A simple fix and the vintage CJ was ready for the rocks again. Mike Lange and his son Ethan also rode out with us the first day to Ellis Creek and then hiked back out with their trusty attack poodle, Zooey. Grrr.
