2000 Jeeps in one camp makes for one cool weekend
For the fourth year in a row, Chrysler held the exclusive Camp Jeep event high in the Colorado Rockies. This four-day Jeep-only extravaganza combined trail rides, engineering seminars, vehicle displays, technical displays, food, fun, and family activities. Registration approached 2,000 Jeeps of every variety, and nearly 5,000 Jeep enthusiasts from all over the world cruised the grounds at Camp Jeep over the four-day period.
Camp Jeep is an event not to be missed by any Jeep owner. There's something for everyone, regardless of what style of Jeep you have. For the most part, new Jeep owners come to revel in the newfound freedom their Jeeps afford and to learn some basic off-road driving on the Jeep 101 course. Trail rides of varying skill levels are offered for the 'wheeling Jeep owner. Other participants enjoy the many other activities that include whitewater rafting, mountain biking, and even archery.
For many, Camp Jeep is a chance to talk to the people who design and build Jeeps, the engineers and production specialists who actually listen to what the end-user has to say. And if historic Jeeps and literature on the Jeep legend were the main attractions, the bulging tent full of vintage Jeeps was sure to make your eyes pop and your pulse start to climb.
Preparation for next year's Camp Jeep is underway, but at press time, the final location had not been chosen. For more information, call the Camp Jeep hotline at 800/789-5337. If you like Jeeps and the people who go with them, take a drive in your Jeep to Camp Jeep-the only Jeep-exclusive event.
