Chasing The NORRA Mexican 1000: Day 4 & Results - VideoPosted in Events on April 29, 2016
The fourth and final day of the NORRA Rally was an easy one. I have breakfast at a hotel in La Paz and jump in a truck with the Azunia Tequila crew. Our job is to get to the finish line in Cabo and pass out tequila shots to the finishers. Sounds like fun! After all Cabo is where the party is after a long exhausting NORRA Rally. The competitors only have 155 total miles to race.
91 miles in the dirt and 64 on the pavement. The mission is simple. Get to Cabo and party. NORRA hosts a huge party complete with food, mariachis, open bar and a spectacular fireworks show right on the beach. Awards are also handed out at the party. The finish line is always crazy. Drivers wearing Lucho Libre masks and sombreros. It’s been a long and exhausting week and everybody is here to party.
The trophy lite I have been chasing has taken second place. Not a bad finish considering the long days we have had. Next year is the 50th anniversary of NORRA and while officials are keeping plans secret, excitement is already building for 2017. Teams are already talking about what cars they will race. This truly is the “happiest race on earth.”
