VIDEO: High-Flying Action at the 2016 Lucas Oil Challenge CupPosted in Events on October 27, 2016
The 2016 Lucas Oil Challenge Cup marked the end of the racing series’ 2016 season, and what an end it was. Taking place October 23, the blistering-hot races brought lots of action back to Chandler, Arizona, for one last hurrah before the start of next season in March.
While regular-season races racked up points for competitors and teams, the Challenge Cup gave them one thing, and one thing only: bragging rights for being the best and fastest around the track. Okay, there was some prize money on hand as well.
The most exciting race we enjoyed pitted the Pro 2 Unlimited trucks against the Pro 4 Unlimited. Pro 2s were given a two-second handicap to help them out against the faster Pro 4s, but as our on-site video proves, it took Pro 4 drivers about 18 laps to catch their peers.
No matter how you look at it, the Challenge Cup was a fun, one-off, lighthearted way to close out the season, and until it returns next year, we’ll miss the off-road, mud-slinging action.
