#MTSEMA18 Warn’s 70th Anniversary Limited-Edition WinchPosted in Events on October 30, 2018
Warn has been around nearly as long as people have been going out recreationally in 4x4 Jeeps and trucks. The company began humbly enough in 1948, producing locking replacement hubs for Willys vehicles, and then the rest snowballed from there. And along with its line of hubs, perhaps there is no better product synonymous with the Warn name than the 8274 winch. Its roots reach back to the upright Belleview electric winch, dubbed so because of the town in which it was manufactured. And while that 6,000-pound rating was ridiculously conservative, the Belleview and subsequent M6000 and M8000 models, as they were named, gave early consumers an electric alternative to the PTO-powered winches that were more commonplace in those early days. Fast-forward to 1974 and a revamped version of the Belleview/8200 was born. Introduced as “Electric Winch Model 8000,” the Warn 8274 served up blisteringly fast line speed, a very conservative 8,000-pound rating, and modern conveniences like an electric remote, automatic brake, and the ability to spool either in or out under power. The 8274 became the go-to winch for serious off-road recovery. And today that tradition continues with the Warn 8274-70 limited-edition anniversary edition of the upright powerhouse. Featuring a 6hp motor from a Warn 9.5XP winch for a 10,000-pound pulling capacity, insanely fast line speed, 150 feet of Warn’s excellent Spydura synthetic rope, and special 70th Anniversary badging, only 999 units of this special winch will be produced. If you’re in the market, keep your fingers crossed that you get one. But until then, check out the super-cool C101 Jeepster Warn affixed one of these special winches to in its booth at SEMA 2018.
