Its only the biggest damn four-wheeling event in the country. Thousands upon thousands of enthusiasts descend upon the otherwise hippy-infested, mountain-biking, granola-crunching town of Moab each year for the Easter Jeep Safari, hosted by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers and the Moab Chamber of Commerce. The cops gear up and pull over anything without mudflaps or fenders, the shop owners stock up on an ungodly number of U-joints and huge mud tires, and restaurant and hotel owners dance around like mental patients on nitrous.
So whats the big deal? Simply put, Moab offers some of the best wheeling in the world. The trails range from scenic unimproved roads with spectacular panoramic views of snow-capped mountains to hard-core off-camber stuff with a 1,000-foot plunge onto a pile of rocks and everything in between. You can drive sand, rocks, mud, and the ever-popular slickrock (think petrified sand and youre there) all in the same day.
