It's been about 4 weeks now since I've inherited Jp Magazine's '07 Jeep Wrangler JK, figured out what was needed and set about fixing it. When I got it, the transmission was blown up, suspension had serious problems, the steering was shot, it weighed way more than it should have, and that little minivan engine was hurting.
In that time I've done a lot of work to bring the thing up to snuff. Not only in my own driveway but with the help of both Off Road Evolution and GenRight Off-Road. With both of those shops and my own wrenching we were able to make a lighter weight Jeep with a suspension that works great in only about a weeks worth of work out of those four.
But it wasn't until Thursday ( 2 days ago) I thought it might make it. Together we got it done. Then I broke it. Then we got it fixed. Then I broke it. Wednesday the crew at Off Road Evolution figured out my the last few things I had broken. And sent me on down the road. By about midnight I was ready to give it a whirl. I mean it's only 750 miles up, 9 days days of wheeling, and 750 miles back, right?Anyway here is some of how it came together, some of the trip out, and the hour thrash to re- diet the Jeep for the trail run tomorrow.
