The one and only engine available in the LX 470 is the four-cam, 32-valve, 4.7L V-8. It pulls the truck well enough, but not exactly with breakneck performance. Still, it's a wonderful engine, and it's mated to an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission, which displays beautiful performance without all the hunting and downshifting of some transmissions.
