The signature woodgrain side panels first appeared on the '79 Wagoneer Limited. This was the earliest incarnation of the full-boat Wagoneer that became the SUV standard for luxury. The Limited was available as the top-line package, above the Custom and Brougham until the compact Cherokee XJ line appeared for '84. The Limited package then became the Grand Wagoneer.
