Keith Fenstermacher adheres to the philosophy that form without function is worthless. How do we know this? Well, take a look at his outrageous '01 F-250 Super Duty and it'll become crystal clear. Yes, it's tall, and yes, it looks pretty darn good. But the stunning Ford does more than exhibit good form. Above all else, it has been built to function. From the fire-breathing 7.3L Power Stroke to the compliant 12.5-inch suspension, the big SD has been stuffed with top-drawer mods.
The big Super Duty gets its in-your-face look courtesy of an abundance of exterior mods. The mind-boggling list includes (but is not limited to) a Keystone Heat Extractor hood; Offroad Tech Maximum Duty Winch Bumper (with Warn M15000 winch); eight PIAA 520 Ion Crystal driving lights; APC projector headlights, Diamond Cut clear corner lamps, LED taillamps and LED third brakelight; Bushwacker Cut-Out fender flares; AMI billet-chrome fuel door; and Putco chrome door handles.

Fenstermacher allowed his brawny Ford a little bling with the addition of an AutoLok Lambo door-hinge kit. He says that suicide rear doors are also on the drawing board.

The tall yet compliant front...

The tall yet compliant front suspension boasts a collection of quality components including the lion's share of a Donahoe Racing 12.5-inch suspension system. It also includes a pair of Off Road Unlimited (ORU) dual shock hoops and Fox Racing Shox 2.0 Pro Series Piggy-Back shocks with 14 inches of travel. The steering was upgraded to handle the big 44x19.5 Boggers on 16.5x12 Weld Racing Mountain Crusher wheels. It features a Donahoe Racing crossover steering system (included with the 12.5-inch kit) with heavy-duty drag link and tie rod, both with spherical rod ends; pitman arm and steering stabilizer. A hydraulic ram assist from ORU makes pointing the wheels easier. But the goodies don't stop there. The front axle is a stout Dynatrac Pro Series 60 that has been fitted with a Detroit Locker, ORU diff cover, and 5.30:1 gears. The axle is fed torque via a dual CV High Angle Driveline 'shaft.

The stock Sterling axle still...

The stock Sterling axle still resides in the rear of the Super Duty, but it has been fitted with a Lock-Right locker, ORU diff cover, and 5.30:1 Richmond gears. It receives power from High Angle Driveline-built main and intermediate dual CV driveshafts. The rear suspension is comprised mostly of Donahoe Racing components, including 10-inch-lift leaf springs and a 3-inch-lift block. A pair of Fox Racing Shox 2.0 Pro Series Piggy-Back shocks with 16 inches of travel dampens bumps and a pair of Fabritech traction bars ensures that the rear axle stays glued to the dirt under hard acceleration.

If one were to cast a casual...

If one were to cast a casual glance at the 7.3L Power Stroke engine, one would think that the sum of its mods were only the AEM Brute Force intake system and a pair of Interstate Mega-Tron Plus batteries. One would be misled. Hidden in unseen places are a number of performance mods that significantly improve the Power Stroke's performance. The list includes 50hp injectors from Xtreme Diesel Performance; a Banks Power Pack system (turbo, intercooler, intake, and so on); an ATS Torque Pro 2000 propane injection system with a 50-gallon tank; and an MBRP 5-inch exhaust. Engine power is routed through the stock automatic transmission which Fenstermacher says "so far works well," though he did add the Banks TransCommand module that is included with the Banks Power Pack system as well as a Banks cooler to ensure that it stays in its optimum temperature operating range.
