A stout example of buggy-building, Jeremy's ride sits on a set of 54-inch TSL Boggers wrapped around 20-inch TrailReady beadlocked rims, and a Warn 9000XP with synthetic winch line is lurking in the Avalanche bumper/mount if needed.
Jeremy Naeger runs his own thriving 4x4 business, Custom Differentials, and is renowned among Midwest wheelers for his private off-road park, which we've had the privilege to visit. This year, Jeremy drove out from Missouri to join us at TTC, and to see if his custom Avalanche buggy wasn't the baddest 4x4 in this year's field. Our response? "Show me," of course.

Heck, this setup's so clean, we could live in here. Unless it rains. Regardless, we like the handy hydro-steering toggle mounted next to the Grant steering wheel and the Painless console, and a full complement of Auto Meter gauges-fuel, air, temp, tach, and oil-keep Jeremy up to date on underhood activity. A Hurst pistol-grip shifts the Trans-To-Go-prepped TH400 with reverse manual valve body, and that little red toggle switch labeled "NOS"...yeah, it's nice to hit the bottle when you need a little more oomph every now and then.
Sweet and simple. A bone-stock 350 Ramjet crate V-8 rests between the buggy's tuberails. The radiator and fan were relocated rearward behind the seats, as were the dual Optima Yellow Tops, and a snorkel keeps the intake high and dry during dunkings. A Perma-Cool unit helps to keep the oil from cooking, and Hooker and Flowmaster parts provide exhaust duties. | There's nothing revolutionary about this rig's suspension-just a time-honored buggy setup using stout components and smart engineering. The hydro-steered Rockwell axle runs Ouverson 47-spline shafts and is located by a basic four-link and 16-inch-travel King coilover setup. An NP203/205 doubler case spins the 1410-series driveshaft, which in turn powers the 6.72:1 cogs stuffed in the big 'Wells. | The rear suspension mirrors the front, with a four-link working in tandem with 16-inch-travel King coilovers to locate the 47-spline Ouverson/Rockwell axle. A Jeremy-fabbed Wilwood dual-disc brake kit works to provide stoppage, and a 1410-series shaft from Driveshafts Unlimited spins the internals. And what happens if you don't have a rear bumper and you need an attachment point? This rig's got that covered too. |
