When Paul Butts of Danville, Ohio, first saw his 79 Chevrolet Silverado (nicknamed Tweety's Revenge), it was sitting in a weed patch in rural Ohio being ravaged by nature. Paul says,It barely had enough power to make it home. Fortunately, Paul is the kind of guy who is willing to take on a challenge, and he proved it by settling a score with the elements and transforming this Bow Tie into a heavyweight contender.
The first step in any major buildup is to develop muscle. Paul achieved this by swapping in a Chevy 383ci stroker that was bored (0.030 over), balanced, and blueprinted by his friend Chris Fowler. This monster has a compression ratio of 12:1, weighs in at just over 450 hp, and slugs out 450 lb-ft of rock-crushing torque. Internal combustion power was honed using Keith Black pistons, closed chamber heads, Crane springs, Manley valves, Crane rockers, and a Crower camshaft. The fuel-and-air supplement is mixed in a 750-cfm Holley carb that sits on top of a Performer RPM intake manifold and is plumbed with Hedman headers and dual exhaust. Underhood electricity courses through an MSD coil, an MSD distributor, AC spark plugs, and Moroso wires.
Besides the standard flywheel, Paul modified the Turbo 400 tranny with a B&M clutch, shifter, and trans cooler. A factory transfer case splits the power to two heavy-duty pumpkins Dana 60s front and rear that are locked and loaded with Detroits and 4.88:1s. The suspension is composed of a 4-inch Rancho leaf-spring setup and utilizes Monroes on each corner to damp the shock. Custom traction bars keep the rearend in place. A Performance Accessories body lift makes room for 44-inch TSL Boggers that are screwed to 16.5-inch Weld wheels.
The bright yellow base paint by Deltron Universal is definitely one of this Bow Tie's most prized attributes, but according to Paul, it is regularly seen splattered in earth tones. Interior mods include Kustom Fit seats for added riding comfort, and a Pioneer DEHP2000 with a DEHX332 amp pumps the tunes through Sony speakers.
Tweety's Revenge initially was built to play and compete in mud pits. But after Paul took several trophy wins at local events, he decided it was time for a different kind of challenge-truck shows. Considering the Chevy's aggressive outward appearance and incredible mechanical strength, it's no wonder Paul is shooting for a heavyweight title. We hope Tweety's Revenge delivers a knockout performance.
