Jarrod Allen Ford calls his 88 F-150 Notorious, and around his hometown of Fruitland Park, Florida, this bulletproof rig definitely lives up to its name.
Under the hood rests a balanced and blueprinted 351ci Windsor, bored 0.040-inch over and loaded with Federal Mogul forged pistons. The ported-and-polished heads are outfitted with Crane springs and aluminum roller rockers. A Lunati cam manipulates the valves. Compression is 10:1 and the cylinders are fed by an Edelbrock 600--cfm carb through an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold. The 2 1/2-inch aluminized pipes and dual Flowmaster mufflers take care of waste gases. A stock ignition and coil fires the eight Autolite Platinum plugs through a stock distributor modified with Ford Motorsports points and ACCEL Super Street 8mm wires.
A Melling high-volume oil pump and custom 8-quart oil pan help lubricate the internals, and a Flex-A-Lite electric fan helps keep things cool. The mills horsepower passes through a C6 three-speed automatic transmission with a B&M shift improver kit and cooler. A stock Borg-Warner 1356 transfer case and Jungle Driveshafts transfer the power to a swapped Dana 44 front axle and a Ford 9-inch rear axle, both of which are locked and loaded with Detroits and 5.14 gears.
The custom-sprayed gray metallic body is slung upon 9-inch coils with dropped towers and 3-inch cylinders in the front; a Skyjacker Softride 6-inch leaf-spring lift elevates the rear. Custom ladder bars were installed to help prevent wheelhop. Dual Skyjacker gas shocks, two Pro Comp ES 3000 steering stabilizers, and a Superlift 6-inch drop pitman arm in the front complete the chassis package, while a 3-inch Superlift body lift provides extra clearance for a set of 44-inch Boggers on 15x14 Super Single Scorpio wheels.
The body is enhanced by a Grizzly show bar, double-bend nerf bars, and brushguard as well as a Burdy 8-inch-drop rear bumper. Inside, Jarrod opted to keep his rig pretty much stock, with the exception of a custom sound system by JVC and a set of Auto Meter gauges.
All in all, after investing nearly $25,000 and 12 months out of his life, this 19-year-old Floridian has built a rig he should be notoriously proud of.
