A juggernaut is "a large, overpowering force or object; a battleship," and that is certainly an apt description of Bill Robinson's '99 F-250 Super Duty. How else would you describe a 4x4 that rolled off Ford's assembly line already livin' large, only to go bigger? However, comparisons between Robinson's Super Duty and a battleship only go so far; we've yet to see a warship slathered in multi-hued flames, as is the front of this Blue Oval, nor have we seen any military vessel boasting the degree of high-performance mods Robinson lavished on his 'wheeler.

The buildup of Robinson's battle-ready Blue Oval began with the installation of a Skyjacker 8-inch suspension lift augmented by a 3-inch Performance Accessories body lift. The front Skyjacker spring packs and the rear OE spring packs lifted with Skyjacker add-a-leaves and lift blocks are damped by Skyjacker Nitro Shocks.

With 11-plus inches of lift, there's plenty of room for maximum-sized rubber, thus Robinson was able to stuff a functional and flashy set of polished American Eagle alloys and Super Swamper TSL tires under the fenders.

You've probably seen other Super Duty 4x4s riding high atop a tall lift and super-sized tread wear, but we doubt if there are many 4x4s riding the trails with a body outfitted as nicely as Robinson's Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania-based custom. Exterior accents include a Lund grille, Bushwacker flares, a Lund Moonvisor, Westin nerf steps, and a Lund RacerBack cab fairing. With the sheetmetal suitably enhanced, South Haven Body and Fender attacked the SD, wielding spray guns filled with House of Kolor Chroma Color and Ford OE green paint. After the Lund and Bushwacker pieces were color-matched to the Ford's original color and the flamed graphics laid down, the South Haven Body and Fender crew clearcoated the Super Duty body, followed by hand-sanding and final detailing.

For the time being, Bill has left his truck's interior mostly intact, save for the installation of a Pioneer SuperTuner head unit, Pioneer midrange speakers, Alpine tweeters, and an Alpine subwoofer housed in a custom-built, under-the-rear-seat enclosure, but we were assured that a full-on custom interior is in the works.

When we interviewed Bill Robinson, he wanted us to make sure to mention that the support of his wife, son, mom, and dad during the buildup stage of this truck was invaluable, as was the mechanical expertise provided by Lowell Hoffman at Carroll's Campers and Orwigsburg Service Center. Consider it mentioned, Bill.

Another feature story comes to a close. Another city, another trick truck, another enthusiast determined to take his ride to the top of the heap in regard to form and function. While it may be just another in a long line of custom 4x4s to appear in OFF-ROAD magazine, we can assure you that Bill Robinson doesn't see it that way; his Super Duty reflects his skill as a builder, his enthusiasm for 4x4s, and his passion for off-roading. In those respects, he's part of the brotherhood, just like you, just like us.
