Jeep Wrangler TJ - Jeep Body Protection-TechPosted in Features on June 1, 2005 Comment (0)
Can body protection help increase your 4x4's off-road capability? It can and does through peace of mind. When you know for certain that your daily-driven 4x4 will make it home with no more scars than it started with, it gives you that much more confidence in attacking an obstacle. Items such as rocker-panel guards allow your vehicle to slide over rocks much more easily, without hanging up and without leaving a dent or gouge in the factory sheetmetal. Rocker guards can also serve as steps for climbing into your rig or even as a sturdy Hi-Lift jacking point, should the need arise.
Desiring such benefits for our own Jeep TJ, we set out for FourXDoctor in Burbank, California, to install a set of the company's FXD rocker-panel guards. The guards are available for Jeep TJ, YJ, and CJ models, including CJ-7s and CJ-8s. The panels are also available for the Wrangler Unlimited. Constructed from 3/16-inch plate steel, the guards are further enhanced by 1-1/2-inch-diameter, 0.08-inch-wall tubing that extends from the front to the rear and is braced to the panel. The FXD guards offer 4 inches of underbody protection to CJs and 2 inches of protection on TJs and YJs. Available with a satin-black powdercoat finish, the FXD rocker-panel guards are provided with all necessary hardware for an easy installation.
