Sports Car Racing - Orange Appeel - Prerunner/ RacerPosted in Features on February 1, 2006
"I've been building racecars and trucks for other people for a long time, this one's for me."
It's not every day that you run into a fabrication shop owner who's experience lies in the construction of IndyCar chassis and suspension systems. Frank Hanrahan of Frank's Fab Shop in Costa Mesa, California, has a resume that most of us could only dream of writing one day. Having grown up racing motocross then following his father into sports car racing, turning the wheels of a few sprint cars, and now tackling the world of desert racing earns Frank a world of respect before spending time with him behind the wheel of his latest creation. After 20 years of being around racing Frank told us, "I just can't seem to peel myself away from it."
So what are the plans for this truck? Frank is going to jump into the growing 1450 class of racing next season with high hopes. Now that he has proper test time on the truck he would like to add additional support in certain areas as well as finish his dash and install some new trick parts that he told us we would have to wait to see when the racing begins. Good luck on the course, Frank. With a truck like this you have a great chance of doing better than just finishing.
