Building the Better Cruiser

All-Pro Off-Road has been one of the leading aftermarket performance parts manufacturers for early Toyota pickups, 4Runners, and Tacomas for over a decade now. Jon Bundrant, owner of All-Pro, has built a solid reputation over the years by producing tough and functional suspension systems, performance products, and vehicle body armor. The components and systems are built with the intentions and ability to conquer this country's harshest trails. The great majority of all products Jon offers are tested on the world-famous Hammer Trails in Johnson Valley, California.

With the addition of the All-Pro suspension system and bumpers, the FJ becomes an even more capable trail rig.

With the arrival of Toyota's very popular '07 FJ Cruiser, Jon quickly went to work picking up where the OEM left off. He created protective armor as well as dependable and functional suspension systems for the front and rear of the FJ. The most basic considerations in creating a quality suspension system are to increase the distance between the vehicle's low point and the ground for additional clearance and build a system that functions flawlessly under harsh conditions, goes well beyond factory limitations, is adjustable to meet changing conditions, and offers a comfortable highway ride. Jon easily and successfully surpassed each one of these requirements. Jon built All-Pro's FJ's front IFS and rear suspension to perform well beyond the aforementioned basics. The front of the system is built around high-quality Walker Evans coilover shocks, which offer up to a 3.5-inch increase in lift.

This allows for fitment of larger tires, which in turn increases ground clearance. The coilovers are completely rebuildable and revalvable, have a beefy 5/8-inch-diameter shaft, and utilize a properly proportioned 650-pound coil. These shocks are exclusively valved for All-Pro and the FJ Cruiser. The coilovers are also available with or without a 12-way-adjustable, compression-damping remote reservoir. The front IFS kits also come with new upper shock mounts which are offset to allow retention of the factory sway bar without any modifications. All-Pro's upper A-arms are constructed of 4130 chrome-moly steel. The arms are TIG-welded and use a 1-inch uniball that provides maximum articulation without binding. The arms are designed to correct improper suspension geometry. They also have zerk fittings for easy bushing lubrication.

The rear system allows 33-inch tires, or 35-inch tires with All-Pro's bumpstop spacer/extender. This kit features rear lift coils, Walker Evans shocks that are available with or without adjustable reservoirs, and DOT-approved stainless steel extended brake lines. Jon's FJ is also fitted with his new upper and lower control-arm links. These links are superior to factory links in strength, durability, flexibility, and performance. The upper links are constructed from 1x0.156-inch-wall DOM tubing, and the lowers are made from 1.75x0.281-inch-wall DOM tubing. Each end of the upper and lower control arms is fitted with high-quality Johnny Joints from Currie Enterprises. Both upper and lower arms are fully adjustable.
