We all remember our first truck, but we’d be willing to bet it wasn’t anything quite like JD McEntire’s dual-purpose prerunner Tacoma. JD wanted his first truck to handle gnarly terrain at high speeds while still being a fully functional truck. JD entrusted SMP Fabworks in Sun Valley, California, to turn his Tacoma into a solid prerunner that could be driven hard while still being comfortable to drive on a daily basis. SMP Fabworks has built some of the best off-road rigs around so it’s no surprise they had JD’s truck built in just five months. Suffice it to say this Tacoma works flawlessly off road!

We caught up with JD’s Tacoma at Gorman on the California Grapevine for an early-morning photo session in the mountains. SMP Fabworks did their homework when it came to dialing in the bypass shocks as they absorbed even the largest of whoops without skipping a beat. With a menacing stance one thing’s for sure: This Tacoma is definitely no trailer queen! OR
