Plan B: Chevy Silverado 1500

For many of us, our off-road vehicle is a stress reliever. It gives us the freedom to get away from the daily grind, enjoy some solitude, and take in the beauty of nature. Who wouldn’t love to just “bug out” at a moment’s notice with a vehicle designed to go almost anywhere and set up camp in a few seconds? That’s exactly what Randy Noborikawa had in mind when he set out to build the ultimate exploration and camping vehicle. Randy’s 4x4 Chevy 1500 WT is brimming with the best parts and custom, top-notch fabrication crafted by the talented crew at Blitzkrieg Motorsports, but is still subtle enough to park on the street and blend into traffic without drawing too much attention. The casual observer might mistake it for a fleet vehicle or service truck, completely unaware of its hidden potential. That suits Randy just fine. He spends his working hours creating stunning graphic designs for clients; for his own truck he wanted something minimal that was devoid of bold colors and corporate logos.

Randy was able to demonstrate the true nature of his truck on the way to our photo shoot. We were both stranded in traffic for almost two hours due to an accident ahead that blocked all lanes of the freeway. Unable to get through the pass, we instead headed into a nearby canyon. The pavement soon ended in a nasty, rocky, and rutted road. Randy’s Blitzkrieg suspension and King shocks kept up just fine as we climbed at a brisk pace for the condition of the road. This so-called road eventually merged into a wash comprised of polished white gravel and large boulders. As we climbed out of our trucks, our lungs were filled with crisp, fresh, pine scented air. The surrounding hills were shrouded in mist and covered in a light dusting of fresh snow.

Although we had ruined the careful detail job on the truck, we had switched to plan B at a moment’s notice, transforming what could have been a cancelled photo shoot into a fun daytrip in the mountains. This is exactly what Randy had in mind when he built the truck. This unique Silverado is a comfortable base camp for any type of adventure and is right at home on a snowy, mountain trail, a remote beach, or running miles of rocky desert back roads. OR
