It’s that time again. Each year, the Colorado Association of 4WD Clubs, Inc. (CoA4WDCI), raffles off a built 4x4 with ticket proceeds going to notable causes. The proceeds will be split four ways, with 40 percent going to the Land Use Fund, 10 percent to the Promotion Fund, 40 percent to the following years’ raffle fund, and 10 percent going to the CoA4WDCI Scholarship Fund. The 2011 raffle vehicle is a 1973 Ford Bronco built by the Rock Solid Offroad Club (www.rocksolidoffroad.org).
The Colorado Association of 4WD Clubs, Inc. is a not-for-profit (contributions are not tax deductible) umbrella organization for four-wheel-drive clubs in Colorado. It was founded in 1968 and is a member of the Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition (COHVC), the United Four Wheel Drive Association (UFWDA), the Blue Ribbon Coalition, and it is alsoa voting member of Tread Lightly! CoA4WDCI donates to Mountain States Legal Foundation and to the Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition Legal Defense Fund in order to support legal actions that maintain public access to public lands. CoA4WDCI also supports the education of its young four-wheelers, giving out an annual scholarship toward secondary education.
Annually, Association clubs do more than 3,000 hours of volunteer work on the campgrounds, picnic grounds, hiking trails, and 4WD state roads. The Association also participates in the National Trails Day event in June by taking a group of physically challenged people on a 4WD trip into the Rocky Mountains for the day.
The 4x4 raffle will take place December 3, 2011. Winner need not be present to win. For more information about CoA4WDCI and how to obtain tickets for the annual 4x4 raffle, check out www.www.hightrails.org.
