White Lightning Taco

Vehicle: ‘98 Toyota Tacoma 2WD
Owner: Nate Hurtado
Location: Seattle, Washington
Chassis: Stock
Engine: 2.4L four-cylinder, cold-air intake, Magnaflow exhaust, Optima battery, Pacesetter header, dual electric fans
Drivetrain: Five-speed manual, Toyota 8-inch rear, Loc-Rite
Locker, Yukon 4.56 gears
Suspension: Total Chaos Taquito long travel kit, Fabtech
Spindles, Deaver 8-leaf pre-runner pack, 2-inch extended rear shackles, FOX remote reservoir shocks all around
Steering: Extended tie rods
Brakes: Braided stainless steel extended lines
Tires/Wheels: 33X10.5R15 BF Goodrich KM2 Mud Terrains on 15 inch aluminum wheels
Interior: Sony head unit with auxiliary line, Rockford Fosgate amp, 8-inch Rockford Fosgate Subwoofer, five-point harnesses, Aftermarket Tach, aftermarket gauges, electric fan override switch, rear amber lights switch
Other parts: Shock tower brace over the engine, bed cage with shock mounts, rear angled spare tire, 1.5-inch rear wheel spacers, custom front tube bumper, blacked out rear tail lights, rear roll pan.
Favorite off-road area: Local levees or any fire roads. “Thanks to everyone who’s hands worked on my truck in many different garages and to everyone who randomly stops me to say they never see other prerunners in Washington.”


Go Fast Blazer

Vehicle: 1975 Chevy Blazer K5
Owner: Cooter Shaughn
Location: Redondo Beach, California
Chassis: Boxed center section and welded cross-members
Engine: 454ci big-block Chevy, Edelbrock port fuel injection, headers, serpentine belt drive upgrade, snorkel with air cleaner mounted behind the glove box
Drivetrain: Built TH350 with low 1st gear for the sand, twin stick NP-205, high-angle drivelines with 1410 and 1450 U-joints, Dana 60 front with ARB air locker, 14-Bolt rear with ARB air locker, chromoly axle shafts
Suspension: 4-inch lift in front, 56-inch Deaver pack moved two inches forward with Super Duty hangers soon to be a four-link thanks to ORD, Fox 2.0 remote reservoir shocks in front, 6-inch lift in rear with shackle flip, Fox 2.0 remote reservoir shocks, pinion guard, shaved housing
Steering: Solid U-joint from steering shaft to ported gear box, crossover steering, PSC ram assist
Brakes: Hydro boost master cylinder, JL-7 calipers in front, front brake calipers will replace the rear drums courtesy of DIY rear disk brake brackets.
Tires/Wheels: 42-inch BF Goodrich KM2 Mud Terrains on 20-inch Poison Spyder Customs beadlock wheels
Interior: Herculined interior, two front and one rear center bucket seat, all with four-point harnesses, Auto Meter gauges, Sony head unit and amp, ammo boxes for storage, two Optimas recessed into the floor, homebuilt eight-point rollcage with swing out tail gate that fits under the stock top, future plans include a fiberglass dash
Other parts: Warn 12,000-pound winch in the front, Mile Marker 10,500-pound winch mounted to the rear hitch, Perry’s Fab n’ Fiber front fiberglass, Dzuz fasteners on, Escalade vents, rear fiberglass from an old race truck, HID lights
Favorite off-road area: Glamis, Dumont, California City, Azusa Canyon, Pismo and the Rubicon. Next stop: Moab!

The Green Goblin

Engine: 4.0L V-6, ported and polished cylinder heads, performance camshaft, forged pistons, headers, cold-air intake
Drivetrain: Five-speed manual transmission, Dana 35 TTB with Detroit Locker, 8.8 rear with Detroit Locker, 4.56 gears
Suspension: Autofab mid-travel kit with widened cut-and-turned beams, Deaver coil springs, Fox 2.0 remote reservoir shocks, F31 Deaver race pack, custom double bypass with remote reservoir shocks, custom bed ’cage
Steering: Stock

Tires/Wheels: 33x10.50R15 BF Goodrich KOs on 15-inch American Racing AR23 wheels
Interior: Factory bucket seats with Halo and five-point harnesses

Alaskan Prerunner

Vehicle: 2000 Ford Ranger
Owner: Deb Thorall
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Chassis: Full rollcage from front to rear, handmade 25-gallon diamond plate aluminum fuel tank
Engine: 3.0L V-6 with cat back exhaust
Drivetrain: Five-speed manual, 8.8 rear with locker, 4.10 gears
Suspension: Custom built 4-inch extended front A-arms, coilovers, three-link rear with FOA coilovers working with a pair of shocks from a monster truck. 17 inches of travel in front, 28 inches of travel in the rear
Steering: Stock with extended tie rods
Brakes: Stock
Tires/Wheels: 33x12.50R15 mud terrains on 15-inch Pro Comp aluminum wheels
Interior: Rollcage built around dash, racing bucket seats with four-point harnesses, wink mirror
Other parts: Fiberglass front fenders and bed sides, four Light Force lights on roll bar, a pair of Hellas on the prerunner bumper, custom headlights and LED taillights. Graphics on custom paint and in interior, rear spare tire mount, cool personal plates!
Favorite Off-Road Area: “Come on, we are in Alaska…..sand, snow, mud, rocks, hills, and creeks.”
