Quality versions of fine-tooth ratchets are far better designed today and are strong and reliable. Their ability to advance to that next click with a small arc swing means they are highly useful in tight areas. My current favorites are the Snap-on Dual 80 ratchets and the more affordable GearWrench 120XP, which click every 4.5 or 3 degrees, respectively. I also like using 3/8-inch-drive ratchets in small scale handles or cutting down cheaper grade ratchets to have tools that fit in certain other tight spaces.
