Stock VW Bugs use torsional leaf springs mounted inside the front beam housing, and they use stubby, no-frills shocks. The stock concept is preserved here, but the front beam is a custom chromoly unit that’s a full 12 inches wider than stock. In place of torsional leaf springs, this Bug uses Fox coilover and bypass shocks that allow much higher off-road velocity compared to stock. The front trailing arms are 4 inches longer and 1.5 inches wider than stock and are built by Foddrill Fabrication, who also built the combo spindles. Fourteen inches of front-wheel travel are on tap.
