By far, a Scout’s biggest enemy is corrosion. You wouldn’t know it by looking at the body on Ismail’s Scout, though. The straight, rust-free body came from his collection of Scout parts and it rests on a 2-inch-lift body lift made from 3-inch-diameter solid graphite material. Mike Hewitt Custom Paint & Body in Palmdale sprayed on the Burnished Gold Metallic paint, which was a factory IH color. The frame was powdercoated by Pacific Coast Powder Coating in Palmdale to ensure a nice finish and long life. The front bumper is a classic, unmodified Warn winch bumper, circa 1980. It holds a durable Warn 8274 winch. The rear bumper is a stock ’72 Scout II bumper that has been powdercoated silver by Pacific Coast Powder Coating. The Scout rolls on 35x12.50R15LT Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires that are mounted on 15x8.5 Western aluminum slotted mags. Note the impressive approach angle of the Scout.
