The single-row, nine-cylinder Wright Cyclone R-1820-97 engine powers most B-17s. Putting out 1,200 hp, it is a low-compression (6.7:1) radial engine but still requires 100-octane avgas. With four of these monster engines turning, it sounds a lot like Super Swamper Boggers burning down the asphalt around 60 mph.
