The Grand Cherokee tackled the deep wet sand and mud with ease in 4WD—we tried this section in 2WD, as well, and cleared it but required quite a bit more throttle and we did get a bit sideways at one point. The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers an improved crawl ratio of 44.1:1 compared to 30.2:1 (3.6L V-6) of the previous generation. Of the available 4x4 systems, our pick is the two-speed Quadra-Trac II system, which still requires some driver input to operate. It uses an MP3022 transfer case with a low range of 2.72:1 and features 4x4 Low (Lock), Neutral, and full-time active 4x4.
