The Rippin’ Rooster ’57 Chevy Bel Air, which was originally built by Larry Schwacofer, pulled down over 40 class wins in its day, many of which were tire-to-tire with the Snortin Nortin Nova. The Azunia Tequila Racing Team located it just four months before this year’s race, and sent it to Matt “Shrek” Dowland for a full restoration. It was fitted with a Robert Simpson 350 V-8, Culhane Turbo 400 transmission, and a J&S-built Impala rear end.
