The BFG Blazer, built by Parnelli Jones in 1975, was arguably the predecessor of the modern-day Trophy Truck. Purchased by Frank “Scoop” Vessels and “Baja” Bob Gordon, the Blazer knocked off a number of Baja class wins before being sold and retired to a Colorado barn. With the NORRA rally in the forefront of his thoughts, racer Cameron “Cam” Thieriot tracked it down, purchased it, and did a full restoration. Scoop’s son Kash, along with co-driver Bob Bower, piloted the Blazer to Third Place finish in the Vintage-Open Truck/SUV Class. Kash said, “I could feel my dad with us all the way down. It was good to drive his car and know he was with us.”
