A highlight of any Jeep is the Go-Devil engine. With 134 ci rated at a whopping 64 horses, the flathead mill powered jeeps, Jeeps, and industrial equipment for over 30 years. This particular one in the stock CJ-2A caught our interest, as it came from Mark A. Smith in unknown and unfired condition—it had sat for over 15 years. We happily accepted the old-school startup challenge and, along with the collection staff, got it to fire in about five minutes. There’s nothing like the sound and smell of an old engine coming back to life.
